Vacation Viewings

In preparation for travel, I loaded up the IPhone and IPad with things to watch. I watched X-MEN: FIRST CLASS on the two plane rides up here, and began to watch the EXPEDABLES in preparation for the second one coming out in a couple of weeks. So far, I hav watched a few episodes of DALLAS with my mother, and began to watch HATFIELDS and McCOYS. Also as we were waiting to pick up my mother at the airport, my father and I decided to see THE AVENGERS again. It was just as good the third time as it was the first. My favorite scene is still when the HULK picks up LOKI, thrashes him around, and calls him "Puny God", As a family we also saw BRAVE today. It was the second time for me, and I also enjoyed it just as much. All of the generations of my family liked it equally, and had a great time. Well off to read for a little while and then possible watch some episodes of the first season of THE GUILD.

Sunday Night

Tonight was a good night for television.  On A&E, we had the THE GLADES (http://www.aetv.com/the-glades/) and LONGMIRE (http://www.aetv.com/longmire/).  I am enjoying the new show, LONGMIRE.  My father has read the book by Craig Johnson, which there are five of (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Johnson_(author)).  The GLADES has continued where it left off last season, and is still good.

Also watched the season premiere of TRUE BLOOD (http://www.hbo.com/true-blood/index.html).  Based on what happened on tonights episode alone, it should be an action-packed season.  Definitely looking forward to seeing Chris Meloni on this as a member of the Authority.

Finished the evening with EXTREME MAKEOVER:  WEIGHT LOSS EDITION (http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/extreme-makeover-weight-loss-edition).  Chris Powell helps people who are morbidly obese.  Tonights episode followed a lady from Florida named Jacqui, who initially weighed 355 pounds.  She hit each of her quarter of a year goals, and ultimately lost 207 pounds in one year, a whopping 61% of her original body weight.  Truly inspiring.

TV

Now is the time when a lot of the summer shows begin.  This week TNT started back up with RIZZOLI AND ISLES (Season 3) as FRANKLIN AND BASH (Season2).  I enjoy both these shows and the characters go well together.

I am looking forward to the season premiere of BURN NOTICE (Season 6) this coming Thursday.

I have also been catching up on older shows.  In the past two weeks, I have watched the fifth season of DEXTER. (Season 6 has already been purchased on Amazon, and will be arriving in August)  I liked it, but still think that season 4 was the best.  Tough to top John Lithgow.

Also finished Season 3 and 4 of CALIFORNICATION (Season 5 has been purchased as well, and will be arriving soon).  It is still funny, but is beginning to level off.  Luckily they have been choosing many beautiful women to be his love interests to keep at least the guys intrigued.  RUNKLE, in all of his disfunction, is still my favorite character...

I also have begun to use the streaming function on Netflix, and have started to watch LUTHER.  Only three episodes in, but I am enjoying it so far.

Video Log Intro

Just got a new video camera.

Weekend movies - 6/10/12

Well, I have decided to write again.  Saw two good movies this weekend.  The first was PROMETHEUS (http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/fox/prometheus/) directed by Ridley Scott.  I am glad he has made a return to science fiction.  This movie is set in the same universe as the ALIEN movies, but he has said that this is not a prequel.

********SPOILER********. Watch the last five minutes of the movie and make your own assumptions.  I am calling it a prequel...

The other movie was PEACE, LOVE, AND MISUNDERSTANDING (http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/peacelovemisunderstanding/).  This was a good family drama.  Jane Fonda was amazing in this.  Catherine Keener and Elizabeth Olson were equally as good and playing the next two generations of women in that family.  Had good acting, good writing, and a good message.  Highly recommmend.

New Season for good show

Tonight was the second season premiere of BREAKOUT KINGS (http://www.aetv.com/breakout-kings/).  The ads say that "a king will fall", and they didn't disappoint.  I will not reveal who the king was that fell in the first episode, until the next post about this show.  A criminal from Lloyd's past is the bad guy in this one, and will be terrorizing the team for a good part of the city I am guessing.

Just as good as last season.  Keep it coming...

Good movie

I went a saw a movie yesterday, that brought me right back to my military days.  I really enjoyed ACT OF VALOR (http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/actofvalor/).  It stars real active duty Navy Seals, and is based on actual missions.  Good acting by the sailors, and the action was way cool.  I recommend to anyone.  Scariest guy in the movie: the Senior Master Chief, who was also their interrogator.

First post of the year

I have really fallen behind in my posts. I will attempt to be more diligent in my posting in the coming year. Still can't believe that we are already half way through February. Time is really flying.

I am spending the evening catching up on TV, scanning old photos, typing this on the IPad, reading a comic book, and dealing with things on the phone with employees.

I am currently watching COMIC BOOK MEN. It is a reality show set in Kevin Smith's comic book shop SECRET STASH. They are talking about comics and old pop culture. Totally in my wheelhouse. I have to admit that I have just received the pilot episode of the SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN through Netflix.

I am planning to watch the fourth episode of ALCATRAZ along with CASTLE this evening as well. I will give an assessment in a different post. To catch up, I will probably do individual post to talk about individual shows.

Stay tuned.
